To All Clubs Seeking Entry to the SJSL
The
South Jersey League permits new soccer clubs to seek entry to the league in the
spring of each year for play beginning in the upcoming fall season. The
League’s mission is to create an organized program for committed club teams at
all levels of competition. It is not its mission to permit entry to individual
teams on a temporary basis. The League
will only consider applications sponsored and prepared by club officials.
Formal application must be made prior to April 15th. The League will
not consider applications from individual teams.
The
application should take the form of a letter requesting entry supported by the
following documentation:
 |
Evidence of the club’s
legal existence in the form of either an incorporation document, an
established constitution, bylaws, tax return, or in the case of a
municipality sponsored program, a letter from the township indicating it
is the sponsor.
|
 |
A list of club
officers, including name, address, phone number, and email address (if one
exists) and the designation of an individual who will represent the club
at League meetings.
|
 |
A reference from
another member club of the SJSL.
|
 |
A statement indicating
the number of teams by age group the Club will enter into league play and
the number of available full-sided and small-sided fields.
|
Timely
submission of this information does not guarantee admittance to the League. The
Executive Board will review the application and may request an interview with
the Club. The Executive Board will submit a recommendation to the General Membership
of the League to either accept, reject, or provision the application. The
Executive Board’s recommendation will be based on, but not limited to, the
Club’s commitment to the League of at least 40% of its travel teams, its
acknowledgement and understanding of League rules, and the League’s ability to
service the Club with referees and appropriate competition. New clubs may also
be asked to serve a probationary period.
Application
actions will be taken at the May and/or June General Membership meetings. The
Executive Board will prepare its recommendations at their May and/or June
Executive Board meetings depending on the number of applications, the need for
any additional information, or the need for an interview. Club representatives
will be notified when they are to appear at a General Membership meeting. No
applications will be accepted after April 15th.
Applications
should be addressed to the League’s General Secretary, Jim Miller at
1850 Rivervue Drive N, Drumore,
PA 17518.
All applications are to be sent regular mail (as a matter of policy and as
volunteers, board members will not accept mail sent return receipt requested
since it would mean time away from work and/or family inconvenience).
